My biggest fan!

So this week will probably be the last time I’ll be able to ride my bike in sunlight during the weekdays. That means night rides are upon us. It should be interesting to see how motorists react to the blinking lights. I know in Seattle it was commonplace to see the little blinking lights on bike commuters, but no so much around here. Oh, and for those of you not in the South, it was like 80 degrees during our ride today, I think I still smell of sweat :-) In other news, I have so many things I want to learn and do: cooking better/healthier meals being the most pressing (and not just desserts!). Getting back in to flying my kites. It’s a habit my dad and the rest of my family used to share when I was growing up. This will hopefully lead to kiteboarding. Hey, if I can’t snowboard anymore, I should try not to let those skills go to waste!Oh, and I am my sister’s biggest fan!

FAIL

That’s basically what happened this weekend. Two broken water bottle cages, two b0rk3d shoes, and hanging on for dear life during the crits. At least now it’s time to chill out and recoup before I start looking at the trainer like a long lost love interest.

Rolling

Yes, I’m still alive. Yes, I still live down here in SC (for how much longer remains to be seen). Yes, I still ride my bike. Yes, it’s still hot….so hot that I have to use sweatbands to stop sweat from soggin’ up my handlebars. Yes, my 2007 road racing season is done (I do have a 12H mtn bike race in a couple of weeks….just for “fun”).

We just did our last two races of the season this weekend and boy was painful. No one should have to do a 1:20H crit in the middle of October. That’s just all kinds of wrong. I managed to break BOTH of my water bottles this weekend. Add that to already breaking my primary and back-up pair of shoes it was a destructive weekend. Thankfully my replacements came in on Friday.
